Position Purpose: Postdoctoral research position to conduct extramurally funded neuroscience research related to Alzheimer’s disease, TBI, drug screening, synaptic transmission, and neuronal signaling.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities are to conduct electrophysiological and multiphoton imaging experiments in brain slice and in vivo preparations in rodents, and in iPSCs from human samples and other cultured cell models. Proficiency in whole cell patch clamp recording techniques, genetically encoded fluorescent indicators, acute brain slice preparation, and manuscript writing a must. Experience with live cell fluorescence imaging/optical imaging tools, stem cell biology/iPSCS/iN, molecular biology tools, and in vivo recordings strongly preferred. Additional duties include rodent surgical procedures, stereotaxic brain surgery, transcardial perfusions, and tissue collection, as well as data analysis, manuscript/grant preparation and writing associated with project. Mentoring/teaching techniques to qualified students and technicians is also essential. Willingness to participate in several ongoing projects is a plus.
