FACULTY POSITION IN SYSTEMS NEUROSCIENCE, UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA, DAVIS
As part of UC Davis’ commitment to hire leading research faculty with a strong commitment to teaching, research and service that will promote the success of historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities and address the needs of our increasingly diverse state and student population, the Center for Neuroscience (CNS) in the College of Biological Sciences and the Department of Neurology in the School of Medicine at the University of California, Davis will invite applications for an Assistant Professor faculty position in systems neuroscience. We seek an outstanding candidate using cutting-edge approaches to understand local and/or long-range brain circuit function and dysfunction in animal models (candidates working with non-human primate models should apply to the following separate search: https://recruit.ucdavis.edu/JPF03768). Candidates should be strongly motivated by the relevance of their research to neurologic diseases and should value the opportunity to work in close collaboration with both research and clinical faculty.  A Ph.D. or M.D. or equivalent and postdoctoral experience in an appropriate discipline are required.

The successful applicant will be expected to have an active research program, a strong commitment to high quality teaching, the potential to attract extramural funding, and excellent potential for interactions/collaborations with existing faculty at the CNS and in the Neurology department.  In addition, the successful candidate will demonstrate an understanding of the barriers preventing full participation of members from historically underrepresented and marginalized student communities in higher education. The applicant’s accomplishments in innovative research and commitments to teaching should demonstrate their potential to develop into the future leaders of their fields.

The successful applicant will hold an academic appointment in the School of Medicine, Department of Neurology and will contribute to the undergraduate teaching mission of the University as well as to the University-wide Neuroscience Graduate Program. Their laboratory will be housed in the Center for Neuroscience, an interdisciplinary research center that is home to more than 26 laboratories working collaboratively in all areas of neuroscience.  The neuroscience community at U.C. Davis is broad and extremely well integrated across campus, with exceptionally close and collegial interactions among between members of the Center and faculty from other campus institutes, departments, and graduate programs.
