Job Details
We seek a talented, highly-motivated scientist at the post-doctoral associate or investigator level with an interest in high-level cognition and prefrontal cortex function, and experienced with single-unit neurophysiology in animal models. The primary research goals for this position will focus on using large arrays (> 100 electrodes) to understand prefrontal neuronal and population function as they relate to complex, semi-naturalistic behaviors. Parallel experiments are carried out in human subjects, so participation in those additional activities would be possible, to the extent desired by the applicant.
The successful applicant will hold a PhD or equivalent in neuroscience or a related discipline, will have demonstrated strong technical experimental skills related to neurophysiology in behaving animals, and will have applied rigorous quantitative methods to neural and behavioral data analysis. Creative thinking and strong communication skills are also critical.
Brown University is a highly collaborative environment, with plentiful opportunities for interaction with colleagues within neuroscience and also in cognitive science, engineering, computer science and mathematics. In addition, translational projects benefit from collaboration with highly engaged clinical faculty across neurosurgery, neurology, psychiatry and radiology.
This position is NIH-funded and the initial commitment is for 2 years, with potential for extension.
