We are seeking a passionate Scientist to join our dynamic neuroscience research group. The new hire will be responsible for target discovery, validation and preclinical development for novel therapeutics in protein misfolding neurodegenerative diseases, with a focus on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis and Frontotemporal dementia. The new hire will also be involved in developing new technologies that enable deeper exploration of key novel neurodegenerative disease mechanisms and more effective therapeutic strategies for their treatment. As a Scientist, A typical day might include the following:

Oversee and conduct experiments to study the biology of CNS proteinopathies using biochemical, molecular, and behavioral methods. Initial focus will be on Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) and Frontotemporal dementia (FTD); Work collaboratively with other specialists in genomic data analysis, biology, computation and medicine to design, execute and refine analyses that connect genetic variation to human diseases and health and help develop and implement the methods and tools that will enable these analyses to be executed and interpreted at scale; Perform appropriate data analysis and trouble shoot experiments under minimal supervision; Keep up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments ; Suggest and pursue new targets or pathways to study within the neurobiology of ALS and FTD, or within other areas relevant to the group’s core interests; Discuss and present data and ideas both within Regeneron and externally, including conferences and publications.; Foster and nurture both internal and external collaborations and relationships within area of expertise; Provide inspiration, supervision, and growth opportunities for research associates conducting experiments within the scientist’s area of responsibility. Become an entrepreneurial inspiring leader within specific areas of expertise, including actively participating in meetings with senior leadership and cross-functional or cross-level teams

You might be right for this role if you are self- driven, team-oriented and productive with proven scientific problem-solving ability and strong interpersonal skills. The candidate must be highly organized and have excellent communication skills

To be considered for this role, you must have a Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field, At least 3-4 years of relevant postdoctoral training required, including independently leading own project(s), Excellent publication record; Strong communication skills crucial, including both written and oral communications; Managerial experience preferred, which can include overseeing lower level trainees, Solid understanding of mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases; Background in synaptic biology desirable; Strong hands-on experience in molecular/biochemical and cellular biology methods is required; Electrophysiology experience, such as field recordings, LTP/LTD, on acute rodent brain slices desirable; Research experience using animal models of human CNS disease highly preferred; Experience with neuronal culture techniques desirable.
