We are opening two positions to study the cellular and molecular basis of sleep-dependent memory consolidation in rats. The goal is to figure out the mechanisms of synaptic plasticity and cellular spike dynamics that contribute to episodic memory consolidation during sleep https://www.varelalab.org/
The postdoctoral trainees will gain expertise in systems and translational neuroscience using electrophysiology (cell ensemble and LFP recording) and behavior in rodents, as well as expertise on the molecular and cellular mechanisms underlying normal and disrupted sleep-dependent memory consolidation and the use of non-invasive technologies to regulate them.
These projects will be conducted in the Jupiter campus of Florida Atlantic University, and will involve collaborative work with Massachusetts General Hospital-Harvard Medical School and the Florida Scripps Institute.
Requirements: PhD with experience in electrophysiology and rodent models; outstanding interpersonal skills and motivation to work in a collaborative environment. Experience with MATLAB (or other programming languages) preferred. Candidates selected for an interview will be asked to provide contact information for three references.
Anticipated start day in January 2021. One year with possibility of extension.
