Associate / Full Professor - Temerty Chair in Therapeutic Brain Intervention

The Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and the Department of Psychiatry, University of Toronto, invite applications for the Temerty Chair in Therapeutic Brain Intervention. The Temerty Chair is a joint University of Toronto and CAMH hospital endowed chair at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health. The successful candidate must be a member of a teaching faculty of a degree-granting institution; have a research focus on some aspect of clinical neuroscience and neural circuitry; and hold either a Medical Degree with relevant research training and be eligible for licensure in Ontario, or a PhD. The successful candidate must also be eligible for an academic appointment as an Associate or Full Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and the School of Graduate Studies at the University of Toronto. The expected start date is December 1, 2020.

CAMH combines clinical care, research, education, policy development and health promotion to transform the lives of people affected by mental illness and addictions. CAMH is home to the Temerty Centre for Therapeutic Brain Intervention, a world leading research centre focused on research on novel approaches to therapeutic brain intervention.

Candidates for the endowed chair position must have a distinguished record of external funding, strong evidence of excellence in research and scholarly achievement, consistent record of publication, experience in mentoring, and documentation of outstanding teaching performance. Candidates must demonstrate achievement of professional recognition at the national and international level in the area of brain stimulation technologies as a means to explore underlying pathophysiological mechanisms of psychiatric disorders.

The Temerty Chair in Therapeutic Brain Intervention will be for an initial five year term with renewal for a subsequent five year term upon successful review of the research program. The Chair will be entitled to a research stipend and funding to support their research program. If the successful candidate is an MD, compensation for clinical activities will depend on the amount of clinical work performed; the total compensation from all sources including the position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and would be at or above $200,000 depending on clinical duties and the amount of clinical work performed. If the successful candidate is a PhD, the total compensation from all sources including the position will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and would be at or above $180,000.
