Multiple NIH-funded postdoctoral positions are available in Dr. Nien-Pei Tsai’s laboratory at University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign to study autism spectrum disorders and epilepsy using genetic mouse models. We seek highly motivated individuals to join our collaborative and fast-growing research team that aims to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying dysregulation of synaptic plasticity and excitability homeostasis in autism and epilepsy. The research focuses of our lab include: 1) hippocampal synapse development and synaptic plasticity in autism and epilepsy; 2) cellular stress response and its effect on excitability homeostasis in autism and epilepsy; 3) novel molecular crosstalk between autism-linked and epilepsy-linked genes. More information about the lab can be found at https://nptsai.web.illinois.edu/wp/

The Tsai lab utilizes a diverse array of approaches including but not limited to patch-clamp and multielectrode array recordings, confocal and 2-photon microscopy, biochemistry and molecular biology, mouse genetics, and rodent behavioral assays. Applicants with Ph.D. or M.D./Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Physiology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry or a related field with a demonstrated record of past training and an interest in molecular neuroscience are encouraged to apply. Application review will begin immediately. Salary is commensurate with experience and qualifications. The expected start date is November-1st or shortly after, but negotiable. To apply, please e-mail an application including a cover letter describing qualification and past research experience, CV and contact information for three references to Dr. Nien-Pei Tsai at nptsai@illinois.edu
