Our research combines anatomical (immunohistochemistry, tract-tracing) and functional (brain slice electrophysiology and calcium imaging, optogenetics) approaches in mice to gain understanding of the brain circuits that control gonadotropin secretion and, ultimately, fertility.

Our team is part of Kent State University’s Brain Health Research Institute (https://www.kent.edu/brainhealth), a collaborative research environment, which includes more than 100 faculties within the Kent State community.

The successful candidate will receive training and mentorship in all aspects of experimentation as well as professional and career development support from Dr. Piet, and through activities offered by the Office of Postdoctoral Studies at Kent State University.

Individuals holding a PhD degree, with a strong background in neuroscience, neuroendocrinology or a related field are encouraged to apply. Prior experience using contemporary neuroscience tools is desirable.

Applicants should be highly motivated, detail-oriented, able to work as part of a team and independently and should have a proven record of productive research. Applicants should also possess excellent organizational and time-management skills.

Please email a cover letter highlighting your qualifications, scientific interests and professional goals, as well as a CV and contact information for two-three references to Dr. Richard Piet (rpiet@kent.edu).
