Postdoc in Addiction Neuroscience
A postdoctoral position is available in the Peters Lab in the Department of Anesthesiology at the University of Colorado Denver, Anschutz Medical Campus to study the functional neural circuitry of addiction and emotional memory. Projects will use viral-mediated gene transfer, chemogenetics, and optogenetics to manipulate neural activity in vivo and elicit functional effects on behavior. Other projects will use in vivo calcium imaging (fiber photometry) and single-unit recordings to measure neural activity in specific brain circuits.
The Department of Anesthesiology is part of an active neuroscience community at CU Anschutz. The successful applicant will have access to resources available within the department and Anschutz campus, including an Optogenetics and Neural Engineering (ONE) Core facility and an Advanced Light Microscopy Core.
Ph.D. in Neuroscience or related field is required by the date of employment. Previous experience in addiction biology or behavioral neuroscience is preferred. Opportunity for training in optogenetics and fiber photometry is available. Some experience in viral-mediated gene transfer and/or willingness to work at Biosafety Level 2 is required. Proficiency in stereotaxic surgery is also required. Experience with in vivo electrophysiology is a plus.
Anticipated start date July 2020 - Jan 2021
