A funded postdoctoral position in genomics/multi-omics is available in the Swarup laboratory   (https://swaruplab.bio.uci.edu) located in the Institute for Memory Impairments and Neurological Disorders (UCI MIND) and Department of Neurobiology and Behavior at the School of Biological Sciences, University of California Irvine starting in the Summer/Fall of 2020. The successful candidate will investigate novel regulators of neurodegeneration encompassing diseases like Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and Frontotemporal dementia (FTD). This project involves state-of-the-art single-cell sequencing technology (single-cell RNA-seq and single-cell ATAC-seq) using human samples and mouse models of AD and FTD. The Swarup lab uses cutting-edge functional genomics approaches, combined with molecular neuroscience techniques to investigate the molecular mechanisms of neurodegeneration (e.g. Swarup et al., Nature Medicine 2019; Parikshak and Swarup et al., Nature 2016, Swarup et al Cell Reports, 2020). In addition to its multi-disciplinary research environment, the lab has access to several on-campus facilities and resources, such as the UCI Genomics High Throughput Facility, equipped with the latest sequencing platforms. A high degree of self-motivation, meticulousness, critical thinking, efficient communication, collaborative effort and integrity are expected.

To apply, please send your CV, a brief description of your research interests, as well as contact information for 3 referees to vivek.swarup@uci.edu
