A funded postdoctoral position in neuronal metabolism is available in the Ashrafi laboratory located in the Department of Cell Biology and Physiology at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis starting in the Summer/Fall of 2020. The successful candidate will study mechanisms of metabolic adaptation in neuronal synapses and their contribution to neurological diseases. The Ashrafi lab uses state-of-the-art cellular imaging techniques, combined with genomic and biochemical analysis to investigate molecular mechanisms of mitochondrial and glycolytic ATP production at nerve terminals (e.g. Ashrafi and de Juan-Sanz et al., Neuron 2020; Ashrafi et al., Neuron 2017). In addition to its multi-disciplinary research environment, the lab has access to several on-campus facilities and resources, such as the Center for Cellular Imaging equipped with cutting-edge microscopes, as well as the McDonnell Genome Center. We are also a member of the Needleman Center for Neurometabolism and Axon Therapeutics. For additional information see: www.ashrafilab.wustl.edu
