Postdoctoral Fellow positions are available in the Neuroscience, Dr. Jianyang Du lab, Department of Anatomy and Neurobiology, College of Medicine. We are looking for motivated postdoctoral fellows with interest in neuroscience, ion channels and related diseases.

The Du lab has broad interests in ion channel physiology (Du J, et al., J Biol Chem 2007; Du J et al., Circ Res 2010; Du J et al., PNAS 2009; Du J et al., J Gen Physiol 2009). Recently, by using a combination of patch-clamp and time-lapse confocal imaging, The Du lab identified that protons function as neurotransmitters to regulate synaptic transmission and plasticity in the amygdala and that the postsynaptic proton receptor, acid-sensing ion channels (ASICs), play a key role in this process (Du J et al., PNAS 2014). Moreover, the ongoing project suggests that ASICs manipulate fear memory erasure (eLife, 2017). The unique expertise in the Du lab includes patch-clamp in brain slice, optogenetics, Ca2+ imaging, confocal microscopy, mouse behaviors.

Qualifications

Expected candidates will hold a PhD or MD in Neuroscience or related fields (e.g. Physiology, Molecular Biology, Pharmacology or Cell Biology) with a track record of productivity. Skills in electrophysiology in brain slices or live animal, Molecular/Cellular approaches and animal surgery and behavior are preferred.
