High-Level Scientific and Technical Manager
The BRAIN Circuits Of coGnitive Systems (braincogs.org) project at Princeton University seeks a Technical Manager that will work closely with a consortium of 7 collaborating labs, to coordinate experimental procedures and data analyses across the consortium.
This position will contribute to cutting-edge neuroscience research and push the frontier of large-scale data science. This project is supported by the National Institutes of Health's Brain Research through Advancing Innovative Neurotechnologies (BRAIN) Initiative. Experimental methods include two-photon, three-photon, and light- sheet microscopy; optogenetics; deep-brain imaging and many-electrode recording; transsynaptic circuit tracing; GFP-based probes of brain circuit activity; and machine learning. This individual will be responsible for coordinating analyses of advanced neuroscience data across the consortium, supervising the maintenance of advanced equipment, supervising the staffing of technical personnel, and supervising the deployment of common database management methods, all across the consortium.
The ideal candidate would have a PhD in neuroscience and very strong technical and experimental skills. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required. Prior experience in laboratory or project management is essential. The initial term of employment is at the rank of Associate Professional Specialist for one year with the possibility of reappointment based on satisfactory performance and continued funding. Qualifications: Ph.D. in neuroscience, biology or related fields. Programming experience would be ideal, as would be experience with large data sets and/or SQL. Experience with behavioral and neuroscientific experiments. Ability to express ideas and communicate effectively within a neuroscience environment. Strong people skills.
