A postdoctoral position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Som Mukhopadhyay at The University of Texas at Austin to study gene-environment interactions in neurodegenerative diseases. The project specifically focuses on understanding how organisms regulate levels of essential metals in the brain, and how defects in these regulatory processes induce Parkinson’s disease. The laboratory employs mouse/rat genetics, neurobehavioral, neurochemical, mechanistic cell biology, biochemical, structure-function, and drug discovery approaches.
