The Lois Lab at Caltech is seeking highly motivated individuals to work on a research project funded by the NIH BRAIN initiative focused on the dynamics and resilience of brain circuits. Our laboratory is interested in the mechanisms that ensure the continuity of neuronal function and behavior in response to perturbations. The research combines techniques in electrophysiology, molecular biology, neuroanatomy, 2-photon imaging, and transgenesis in rodents and songbirds.
Representative recent publication:
Gonzalez, W, .G, Zhang, H., Harutunyan, A, and Lois, C. Persistence of neuronal representations through time and damage in the hippocampus (2019). Science, 365 (6455). pp. 821-825.
Requirements:
A Ph.D. in neuroscience, biophysics, or a related field, and expertise in electrophysiological recordings is necessary. Candidates should have a record of research excellence demonstrated by publication. Applicants who are motivated to develop careers as independent investigators are especially encouraged to apply.
