Candidates are being considered for a postdoctoral position in the laboratory of Dr. Stephan Taylor in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Michigan. We seek candidates with strong research backgrounds to work on an NIH-funded research project using functional magnetic resonance imaging and magnetic resonance spectroscopy to examine GABAergic function in the psychosis spectrum (early psychosis, schizophrenia, bipolar disorder). Research, training, education, and mentorship are offered in the context of the PI’s lab which interfaces with very active group pursuing mechanistic and translational research in psychiatric disorders in adult and pediatric populations, using a variety of brain mapping modalities. The clinical research in the lab occurs in the Program for Risk Evaluation and Prevention (PREP), which focuses on early psychosis. The lab is also engaged in treatment studies of psychotherapy, pharmacology and brain stimulation. The candidate will have access to state-of-the-art brain imaging facilities and computational resources at the University of Michigan. Applicants should have a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g. clinical, developmental, cognitive or social psychology or neuroscience). A strong analytic/computational background is highly desirable, along with prior experience in fMRI analysis. The candidate will also be encouraged to cultivate connections with other teams across the University of Michigan, such as Psychology and Biomedical Engineering.
