Postdoctoral Fellow - Neurodegeneration
Postdoctoral Fellow – Neurodegenerative disease
The Prion Disease Laboratory at UC San Diego is seeking an enthusiastic postdoctoral researcher to join our multidisciplinary team dedicated to unravelling the mechanisms of neurotoxicity in prion and Alzheimer's disease. We use iPSCs, primary neurons, molecular and biochemistry techniques, and transgenic mouse models. We are investigating the molecular basis for neurotoxicity, the endo-lysosomal pathway, autophagy, synaptic damage, as well as how protein aggregates spread from cell-to-cell within the brain.
Projects include understanding the mechanisms of prion spread between cells and through the glymphatic pathway, selective neuronal vulnerability in prion disease, mechanisms underlying neurotoxicity. Our team is highly interactive with other teams across UCSD and on the La Jolla Mesa, as well as internationally.
