Postdoctoral Associate (Sensory Neuroscience)
Join a vibrant research program in sensory neuroscience at the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine. This position, available immediately, is for long-term NIH-supported projects in the laboratory of Dr. Nirupa Chaudhari, Professor of Physiology & Biophysics.
The area of research is chemosensory mechanisms and molecular/functional connectivity. Specifically, projects will involve molecular-functional definition of gustatory neurons and pathways; patterns of stimulus-evoked responses using an in vivo confocal Ca2+ imaging; and/or transgenic- and viral-tracing to establish gustatory circuitry and functions by cell type. Applicants should have expertise in one or more of the above experimental approaches. There will be opportunities to participate in collaborative projects to expand experimental repertoire and research productivity. The lab emphasizes high quality publications and conference presentations.
Recent Ph.D. in Neuroscience, Molecular Biology/Physiology or related discipline. Research experience should include transcriptomics, neuroanatomical methods, rodent surgeries and/or cellular imaging / electrophysiology. The successful candidate will have evidence of stage-appropriate, strong research productivity, skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data and the ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.
