A postdoctoral position is offered by the Neuroscience Program at Cima University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain) in the field of Neuroimmunology.

Location: Cima University of Navarra (Pamplona, Spain).

Contract: Full time, 5 years (must be renewed every year).

Project scope

The position is available immediately to develop a new research line in neuroimmunolgy of neurodegenerative diseases. The position offered is a 5-year contract followed by a permanent contract. It offers the opportunity to apply cutting-edge immunological technologies to elucidate the role of innate and acquired immunology to neurodegeneration, particularly to Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The work will be in permanent collaboration with an interactive team of basic and translational researchers.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have the possibility to carry on a personal research project.

  • Work with cellular and animal models of PD and AD and with biological samples (fluids, imaging, etc. ) of patients.

  • Apply histopathology, cell biology, molecular biology and imaging techniques.

  • Explore in the pre-clinical mouse and rats models immunological mechanism underlying neurodegeneration and therapeutic potential of novel immunotherapies including virus and gene therapy.

  • Collaborate in multiple projects and the supervision of pre-doctoral student(s).

  • Be in permanent collaboration with basic, translational and clinical researchers at Cima, Clínica Universidad de Navarra, as well as international centers.

Qualifications to be considered:

  • Postgraduate training in Neuroinmunology.

  • Animal handling experience.

  • Flow cytometry knowledge.

  • Competitiveness to complement or extend this contract with additional grant/fellowship applications (e.g. Marie Curie actions, Juan de la Cierva/Ramon y Cajal programs, …).

  • Good interpersonal skills (English and communication, motivation and resilience, organization and connectedness, creativity and initiative, …).
