Assistant Professor, Behavioral Neuroscience, Department of Psychology
The Department of Psychology at the University of South Carolina invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in Behavioral Neuroscience at the rank of Assistant Professor, with the appointment starting August 16, 2020. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree in psychology at the time of appointment (ABDs considered). Behavioral neuroscience using rodent models of human disease and drug dependence is an area of strength within the department. To complement this existing expertise in the department, we seek candidates with (a) an innovative cutting-edge behavioral neuroscience research program using rodent models, (b) documented training in quantitative methodology, and (c) research focus in the area of psychoneuroimmunology/ neurovirology. Successful candidates will be expected to make significant contributions to behavioral neuroscience scholarship within their area of expertise, to mentor undergraduate /graduate students, and to teach courses in experimental psychology. Teaching responsibilities may include learning and memory, biological psychology, and research methods at both undergraduate and graduate levels. The candidate may also teach other undergraduate and graduate courses as needed. Special emphasis is placed on the candidate’s strong record of scholarship, the potential for procuring research funding, and an interest in collaborative and interdisciplinary work.
