University Nevada Las Vegas

Since its first classes were held on campus in 1957, UNLV has transformed itself from a small branch college into a thriving urban research institution of more than 28,000 students and 3,100 faculty and staff. Along the way, the urban university has become an indispensable resource in one of the country's fastest-growing and most enterprising cities. Psychology at UNLV has a long and rich tradition of excellence in research and teaching as well as service to the University, the community, and the field of psychology. Our faculty conduct cutting-edge research on a variety of topics in areas such as child and adult psychopathology, social psychology, developmental psychology, health psychology, cognitive psychology, biology and behavior, and human factors and quantitative methods. One advantage to conducting research in this environment is the diversity of our undergraduate student population and the diversity of the general Las Vegas area. The department also has connections with many community organizations (e.g., private schools, Clark County agencies, and counseling, treatment, medical, and neuroscience centers).
