Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center (SHPRC) The Shriners Hospitals Pediatric Research Center (Center for Neural Repair and Rehabilitation) is a collaboration between the Shriners Hospitals for Children and Temple University School of Medicine. The Center opened in October 2009 in Temple’s brand new Medical Education and Research Building (MERB), where it occupies the entire 6th floor (23,000 usable square feet). Our mission is to do research that will develop therapies for injuries to the nervous system, focusing on mechanisms of neural repair and plasticity. The Center currently has 10 principle investigators to make up 3 interactive and cross-fertilizing research teams – a Spinal Cord Injury Research Team, a Peripheral Nerve Injury Research Team, and a Brain Injury Research Team.
