The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) is the largest university in the Chicago area – home to 27,000 students, 15 colleges, and the largest medical school in the USA. Research expenditures at UIC annually exceed $335 million, making it one of the top research universities in the nation.The Department of Biological Sciences is one of five natural science departments in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. We share complete or partial responsibility for four different undergraduate programs: B.S. with major in Biological Sciences, B.S. in Neuroscience, B.S. in Biochemistry, and B.S. with major in Integrated Health Studies. These are some of UIC’s largest programs, with over 2500 students in total. We also offer M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Biological Sciences, with an Interdepartmental Concentration in Neuroscience. We are currently composed of 30 tenure track faculty, 8 non-tenure track faculty, 17 staff, and 110 graduate students.
