The Department of Neurology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham seeks a neuroscientist who does basic science and/or translational work in areas relevant to Alzheimer’s disease or related disorders for a faculty position in the Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics. Appointments may be at any level, with a preference for tenure-track Assistant Professors.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity and resources to develop an outstanding program of basic science and/or translational research in a strongly collaborative setting. The neurosciences at UAB are expanding vigorously, and the infrastructure for basic and clinical research is excellent. The UAB Center for Neurodegeneration and Experimental Therapeutics (www.uab.edu/CNET) brings together basic studies of disease mechanisms, translational studies, and clinical research. The Center has newly renovated laboratory space and core facilities, and is centrally located in the UAB medical campus. In addition, UAB has large Memory Disorders and Parkinson Disease clinics with active clinical research programs, and substantial programs in Huntington disease, ALS, and dystonia. Competitive packages including relocation costs, start-up and transitional funding are available.
Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D and a track record for extramural funding is a plus. Women and minority candidates are especially encouraged to apply.
