A postdoctoral position is available to investigate the neurobiological intersection of addiction, stress, and nociception. This position is available in the lab of Dr. Nicholas Gilpin at Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center (LSUHSC) in New Orleans. Research projects in the Gilpin lab use an integrative approach that combines behavioral testing, pharmacology, circuit-based approaches, slice electrophysiology, and anatomical, molecular biology, and biochemical techniques. The ideal candidate will have strong intrinsic motivation, strong letters of support, and experience in one or more of the above listed techniques. The successful candidate will be mentored toward research independence in his/her chosen area of specialization. Individuals holding or near completion (within six months) of a Ph.D. or equivalent degree are eligible. The applicant will work in a highly collaborative environment located within the heart of New Orleans and receive an NIH-level stipend.
