A post-doctoral fellow position is available in the Huffington Center on Aging in Baylor College of Medicine to study the role of immune cells and responses in neurodegeneration. The focus of the immediate project is to elucidate mechanisms of neuroinflammation in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) utilizing various genetic mouse disease models and identify the key pathways and factors involved. Additional projects will investigate protective immune responses and age-related systemic alterations in AD pathogenesis.
The ideal candidate will have a Ph.D. or equivalent in neuroscience, neurodegeneration, immunology, or related areas with experience in techniques including at least some of the following: working with genetically modified mice, CNS cell biology, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry, protein misfolding biochemistry, and mouse neuropathology/stereology.
