A position for a highly motivated and self-driven postdoctoral research fellow is available in Dr. Hibah Awwad’s laboratory at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, College of Pharmacy, Oklahoma City, OK. The postdoctoral fellow will join the collaborative scientific team of Dr. Vibhudutta Awasthi, Dr. Kelly Standifer and Dr. Hibah Awwad to work on a 3- year DoD-funded project. The overall focus of the project is to test the efficacy of a pharmacotherapeutic agent in a combined polytrauma rodent model that involves traumatic brain injury and hemorrhagic shock. The postdoctoral fellow will enjoy a collegial scientific atmosphere with state-of-the-art equipment on the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center (OUHSC). In addition to the opportunity to expand their scientific and laboratory skills during their postdoctoral training, the postdoctoral fellow will have a variety of services offered through the Office of Postdoctoral Affairs. Salary is commensurate with NIH guidelines for postdoctoral fellow stipends.
Applicant must hold a recently completed Ph.D. or D.V.M. with a strong background in neuroscience and/or neuropharmacology. Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills, and demonstrable publication or presentations in the field of neuroscience. Applicants with experience in performing survival surgery, neurobehavioral and cognitive tests in rodents will be preferred. Experience with neuroimaging techniques, immunohistochemistry and molecular biology is a plus. The successful candidate must be fluent in English.
