A postdoc position is available in the lab of Dr. J. Tiago Gonçalves at the Dominick P. Purpura Department of Neuroscience of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine in New York City.
Our research aims to understand how experience and neuronal activity contribute to the differentiation of adult neural stem cells, as well as the circuit integration and the function of adult-born neurons in the dentate gyrus. We are particularly interested in neurogenesis and hippocampal function defects in models of neurodevelopmental disorders and autism. The successful candidate will be using a combination of in-vivo 2-photon imaging, behavioral testing and electrophysiology/optogenetics to study the integration of newborn neurons into the circuitry of the mouse hippocampus.
Experience with microscopy, electrophysiology, behavior, rodent handling, image analysis, and computer programming (Matlab, Python, R, C++) is preferable, although not essential. Interested candidates should send their application to email@example.com with an updated curriculum vitae and a cover letter detailing past achievements, current scientific interests and future career goals. Funding is available and salary will be determined based on the applicant’s qualifications.
