The Scientist / Electrophysiologist will conduct independent research to support the company’s service business and advance the internal and external R&D collaborations. The incumbent will be highly skilled in electrophysiology-based techniques, with special emphasis on whole-cell voltage clamp in neuronal cells. Familiarity with additional methodologies, such as slice recording or calcium imaging, will be highly desirable but not essential. In addition, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills, and be a strong team player.
The Scientist-Electrophysiologist’s daily functions will include, but not be limited to, the following:
Patch-clamp whole-cell recordings from primary cultures in both voltage and current clamp mode
Independent protocol development for electrophysiology-based assays aimed at characterizing the activity of pharmaceutical compounds on primary neuronal cells
Establishment and maintenance of neuronal cultures
3+ years of experience in electrophysiology-based research. Ph.D.- or M.S.-level education in neuroscience, pharmacology or related field. The candidate must be highly skilled in patch-clamp electrophysiology techniques and data analysis. The candidate will also be well organized and detail-oriented, possess excellent record-keeping and communication skills and be expected to strictly adhere to standard operating procedures (SOP).
