The VISN17 Center of Excellence for Research on Returning War Veterans at the Central Texas Veterans Affairs Medical Center is seeking a Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research in its Neuroimaging Core. The CoE is an interdisciplinary, research-dedicated facility on the Waco, TX VA campus that specializes in conducting biological, neuroscientific, and psychological research aimed at improving the lives of US Military Veterans suffering from PTSD or TBI. This work is conducted in close collaboration with our academic partners at Texas A&M College of Medicine, Baylor University, and the University of Texas. The Neuroimaging Core conducts research using a variety of techniques, including structural and functional MRI using our research-dedicated 3T MRI scanner, EEG neurofeedback, and Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation.
The focus of this position will be on examining neural correlates of TBI and PTSD in veterans under the supervision of Dr. Evan Gordon. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in a field related to cognitive neuroscience. Experience with any of the techniques we employ will be considered desirable, but the ideal candidate should have strong expertise in human fMRI, as evidenced by Ph.D. thesis and/or publications. Responsibilities will include research protocol development; data collection and analysis of behavioral and fMRI data; collaboration with other CoE researchers conducting behavioral, biomarker, EEG, and TMS research; manuscript and grant preparation; and the mentoring and supervision of students and technicians. Our Fellows are afforded a competitive salary and benefits package. Fellowship appointments are for two years with a third-year renewal option, and, for exceptional researchers, the possibility of promotion to a permanent tenure-track Investigator position.
Applications should include a cover letter, a CV, a copy of your transcripts, and three letters of reference. Applications will be reviewed continuously.
