This Postdoctoral Fellow position will be focused on the development and analysis of new Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) acquisition protocols for both clinical and preclinical scanning. The Stanford-SRI Neuroscience Program is funded by the NIH to conduct MRI-based studies of the brain using state of the art imaging and computing. The successful candidate will join an internationally renowned lab with a highly multi-disciplinary working environment. Current research interests include Alcohol Use Disorders, HIV infection, normal brain development, Parkinson’s disease, and preclinical models. The Neuroscience program has access to 1.5T wide-bore and 3T GE human scanners and a 7T Bruker Biospec preclinical scanner.
Key responsibilities will include the development of new methodological approaches, algorithms, and software analysis pipelines and tools for MRI, fMRI, and DTI. Potential research activities include development of novel pulse sequences and contrast mechanisms for neuroimaging, as well as development of new, efficient approaches to delineate fMRI activation patterns in the brain and use of fiber tracking approaches for DTI data analysis.
PhD in Magnetic Resonance Physics, Bioengineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or allied fields. Applicants will need to demonstrate interest and proficiency in all aspects of MRI acquisition and analysis techniques and experience in pulse sequence programming (GE or Bruker experience a major plus).
The successful candidate will have experience and interest in preclinical models, statistics, MR physics, programming (C or Matlab), signal and image processing. Excellent analytical, interpersonal, organizational, and spoken/written English communication skills are expected.
