A basic science Research Assistant/Associate position is available immediately to join a multi-disciplinary laboratory performing basic and translational research in neurodegenerative diseases, with an emphasis on Parkinson's disease. We are looking for a highly motivated individual, who can work independently as well as part of a team, who has Neuroscience bench research experience. The laboratory uses various rodent and cell culture models, as well as human post mortem tissues, to study mechanisms of disease and to evaluate potential new disease modifying therapies.
Minimal requirements are an MS in neuroscience or a closely related field, and must have at least two years full-time Neuroscience laboratory bench research work experience. Required skills are proficiency in mouse/rat handling, small animal surgery (stereotaxic surgery), rodent behavioral testing, microtome/cryostat sectioning of brain tissue, immunohistochemistry and cell culture experience (cell lines and/or primary neurons). Experience in neurochemistry (use of HPLC), in situ hybridization, and Western blotting is a plus. Outstanding organizational skills and attention to details, as well as excellent communication and time management skills, are also required.
