This is a full-time Research Scientist position. Applicants should possess a PhD, MD or equivalent degree with experience in electrophysiology and basic biomedical science research. Candidates need to have capability and skills to (1) conduct patch-clamp recording of astrocytes or neurons in rodent brain slices, or in cultured/ dissociated astrocytes and/or neurons (or other types of cells), (2) perform experimental design, data collection, and statistical analysis, (3) solve research-related problems, and (4) communicate with co-workers in English (oral for discussion of outcomes and writing for construction of scientific publication). Candidates with experience in drug self-administration by rodents are also encouraged. Previous postdoctoral training is not required. Candidates with a Master of Science (MS) degree and at least one year of experience in performing patch-clamp recording or drug self-administration are also encouraged to apply.
With supervisor’s guidance, successful candidates are expected to independently conduct electrophysiological and related studies; solve/report scientific/technical problems encountered during research; collect/analyze research data; prepare/present poster/slide presentations for internal progress reports and presentation at scientific meetings; and write scientific manuscript(s) for publication of completed research.
