A Postdoctoral Fellow position is available immediately in the lab of Takashi Kitamura, Ph.D. in the Department of Psychiatry at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. The research goal in Kitamura Lab is to provide a biophysically-based and mechanistic understanding of neural circuits, neural processes and memory engrams for learning and memory in the rodent brain by linking the elementary information processing and storage mechanisms of individual neurons and their microcircuits to animal behaviors in the entorhinal cortical hippocampal network under normal and psychotic conditions, by applying calcium imaging, transgenic mice, viral-tracing, electrophysiology, and cell-type specific optogenetic manipulation in vivo.
Selected applicants will utilize viral technology, transgenic mice, histology, electrophysiology, behavioral assay and work with/programming.
A PhD in Molecular Biology, Neurobiology, Neuroscience, Systems Neuroscience and any related fields, or MD with applicable lab experience is required. As this position is funded by an NIH T32 training grant, US Citizenship or Permanent Residency is also required.
