A postdoc position is open in laboratory studying perinatal brain injury and cerebral palsy. The study examines structural and functional development of brain and spinal cord after perinatal brain injury in rabbits, exhibiting striking motor deficits. We are looking for an innovative and highly motivated individual with a PhD or MD degree, with neuroscience, electrophysiology, biophysics or related background.
Responsibilities will include extracellular and intracellular recordings in brain and spinal cord preparations, implantation of brain electrodes and cannulas, neuroanatomical studies with tracers, EMG and EEG, movement analysis in neonatal animals.
Applicant is expected to assist and conduct medium size animal surgeries, handle and provide care for neonatal animals.
Experience in brain and spinal cord tissue preparation and histopathology, including immunohistochemistry is desirable. Hands-on experience with molecular biology and programing skills (e.g.: MATLAB) are a plus.
Candidates should have a good command of the English language, capacity to write manuscripts, be available for an interview and be eligible to work in the US. The ideal candidate will have at least one first author publication from their PhD work.
